Hello everyone,
So I have been swinging a coil now for almost a year. I have found many keepers. Some of value and some that fall under the relic category. I love rescuing historic relics. Like most of you, I am truly addicted to the hobby. I always like to walk out the door telling myself what I want to find. A silver coin was my goal for five months. After I found one, then came the 1800's coin. That was a high hurdle for me. When fall came I decided to venture out into the fields to have a go at it. Learning as I went along I discovered it was not as easy as some of you made it out to be by reading your post and seeing your finds. It was very discouraging with a lot of failures to be had. I plucked a lot of iron, shotgun headstamps, buckles and bent up forks. With the mild winter, I found myself coming back to the city to dig clad and some wheat's with hopes of a silver coin. As to which I did find a couple. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't finding 19th century coins. 1836 was the year it became a city here. Something had to change. I knew it wouldn't be long before the farmers would be planting crops and I had to figure something out... then Lady Luck smiled upon me.
Yesterday's finds were five IHP's 1878,1883,1884,1898,toasted - five V nickles 1887,1899, three toasted - 1 seated liberty dime 1877.
Thanks for looking.
