**UPDATE** CORRECT PHOTO BELOW***

Went out with a friend today to do some relic hunting. I mostly look for coins but I have been anxious to find something from the civil war. Now, I've yet been able to find this specific button but my friend said it was an infantry button from the civil war. It was the only good find of the day.

Thoughts?

Once again we need to see the backmark if there is one. Very unusual to see the eagle facing left. Possibly Mexican War era and it looks to be in very good condition. A nice find!

UPDATE************

In resizing the photo, I reversed the image by accident. Here is the correct image. As far as the back of the button, there are NO markings what so ever.

Great find. Definitely a Union Infantry button, probably regular coat button. Hit that site again and dig all good repeatable non-ferrout signals. You might be pleasantly surprised with some other great finds!! HH

So far I have found that it could be a Civil War Eagle Infantry Button. Either way, I'm excited.
thanks for viewing

WTG Billy. Looks like an Infantry Officer's button. You'll always remember the first CW button. It certainly won't be your last. Sounded good on the detector didn't it? HH, Quindy.

Congrats on your first civil war relic. I get much more excited finding relics than I do coins. I love civil war relic hunting. I would hunt that site pretty good as there should be more relics there.
