MY FIRST COINS FROM THE 1800'S TODAY!! YES!!

Today, was my best day yet. I detected my great-great aunt's house, who recently passed. The house was built in the 1800's. Found 5 wheaties, a 1940 Canadian penny; 1957 nickel, and THREE small indian cents!!! YES!!! these are my very first coins older than my 1914 wheat pennies. The dates on the indians are 1865(!!); 1896; and 1907. Also found some clad, some what-zits, a neat old boy scout button; some gears; and some trash and pull tabs, which aren't pictured. I'm so ecstaic that I found my first three really old coins! the indian heads are not in the best of shape, but I am still excited! each day keeps getting better and better for me. Thanks for reading, and Happy Hunting!

Good on you!

They look OK to me! Any coin that you can tell what it is counts. ;D My first inroad into the 1800's barrier was an IH Cent. Still trying to break the 1800's silver barrier.

That's what it's all about ! I love indians, they just haven't loved me lately. Haven't gotten one yet this year.

Congratulations on finding your oldest coins! Compared to how copper coins come out of the ground here on Long Island, those Indians are in nice shape. Way to Go!

Sweet digs. Even though those Indian Heads are worn they really are in nice shape. :) Looks like a great hunt. You must have been pretty excited finding 3 IH's in one day. I would really hunt that place hard. Gotta be more.

Yes, I plan to go back some night this week, or next weekend. I have the indian heads and the wheat pennies soaking in olive oil for the next day or two, to hopefully clean them up a little bit. All those coins, and I've only really covered about half of her yard! Thanks for all the nice words!
