On Thursday, May 8, I was granted permission to relic hunt an old barn and homestead cellar hole site here in NH. I basically went there this a.m. to basically eye scan the ground surfaces and stone structures. What is different about this site is that it was built in the early 1800's and was burned down in 1966. Not the typical centuries worth of overburden. The 84 year old home owner who currently lives across the street was eager to share some info on the parcel. He also informed me that he never allowed anyone (outside the family) to snoop around. I guess I chatted him up for about a 1/2 an hour before asking him if I would be able to have a look at the site. He told me as long as I bring a black coffee for him each time I showed up I can dig around as much as I want. I thanked him and left. I stopped by today, without any equipment and resting in with the stones of the foundation, was a very nice crotel bell. My first. Other relics found at the location was some hand forged horseshoes, a beautiful hand wrought twisted door latch hook, and other items. Just wanted to share it with you. HH
