14 k - 1 g = 1 gram not very much gold---might be "heavy gold plated" to check see if a magnet will stick to it---or might be "gold" plating over silver, ---nice ring anyway---Ivan

its a small ring... the pic of it on my finger is just behind the fingernail on my pointer finger.. and it will not stick to a magnet (just tested that)

gold plate over silver is a good chance then if it doesn't stick that or some type of non ferrous pot metal---mexico is famous for silverwork & silver jewelry---so I would not be surprized at all to see gold heavy "plate" over a silver ring from down there---nice ring anyway and a ring is a ring---the 14 K - 1 "G" / 1 gram is just not much gold thats why I say it most likely a very nice and pretty "gold plated ring"--- Ivan

congrats on first gold that is cool looking. You can buy a scale online for not very much. I can tell you that a lot of smaller rings do indeed weigh 1 gram-2 grams. Where did it read on your machine? If it read as foil then yea chances are good that it is real. if it reads up at tab or higher then it isnt. The one thing the 1G could very well be is the makers mark. You should consider getting a gold test kit. There is electronic ones and acid test kits. We are going to get an electronic one later this fall. We have a house full of dogs and in an old house that the floors shake everytime they run, acid test probably wouldnt be a good thing. Anyway savor the moment, now go find some more

GuANu, that might be IG instead of 1g. IG is a designation of a manufacturer called Imperial Gold. There are similar rings on QVC, etc., they retail for $70-$100. Yours is solid band, so might be worth more. Good job on your 2nd outing with the Excal!
