It is a nice 1st find thats for sure but not a Dalton. I wish mine were Daltons or Paleos by the shape you would think they were. But cant go by shape alone. Woodland period made some that look just like the old ones did. What you have I believe falls under the Copena Auriculate variety. They date in the 5000-2500 range still a older point but not 9000+ range. I found a cluster of Copena types 2 years ago but not the same shape as yours. Mine are thicker that one looks thin. I thought I had hit a Paleo pile

Look up Yadkin points, I think the ding in the side makes it look like a Dalton. It looks as lot like the yadkins found over in South Carolina, the ones we find down in Ga. has pointed ears.

It's either a Yadkin with a small chip out of one side or if that is actually a notch it could be a Brewerton that only has one notch completed. Either way it's a nice find.

North Ga? I would go with Brewerton triangle (Like Grim said) and a nice one. If that is white quartz you might also want to pan for gold if you have lots of quartz in that water. I hunt N.Ga some but am always just outside the gold belt but you never know!
