Hi everyone, I decided to go on a hunt yesterday but did not want to go to the regular park I have been hitting because there has been a summer camp of over 100 kids there and they are all over the park. I didn't want to hit the old school because they were holding summer school there so I decided I should try a new area. I had done some research on this older park but could not find out how old it was. I new it was at least early 50 to 40's so I decided to give it a shot. The first target I got was a 1982 cent 5 inches down and was totally green.:icon_scratch: I knew that this may turn out worse then I thought. After about 30 minutes and only dug modern cents at 4 -5 inches I was about to call it a day when I got a mid 40's tone at 5-6 inches. I dug it out and it turned out to be a 1936 dime! :laughing7: I started to get a bit excited knowing that I could now find more silver so I stayed and continued to hunt. About 20 minutes later and having only dug a couple more modern cents I got a screamer showing 2:45 at 5 inches. I dug down not thinking it was anything special and saw the edge of the rim. I got the camera out and started filming. At first since it was only 5 inches I was thinking it was a toonie but as I pulled it out I saw King George and said HO-LY BEEP! I could not believe I had just pulled out my first large silver coin! :headbang: It turned out to be a 1940 Half Dollar. After that I found more clad and a wheat cent. I was smiling all day after finding that silver. The day before I hit the regular park and pulled out a 1964 dime and a couple of old cents. Good Luck and HH. Here is a link to the video:

Awesome silver coins and in good shape too! Congrats!

Awesome hunk of silver there, thanks for showing it!

Man that half would have bought a nice meal when minted. Congrats on the whole hunt.

really nice coins

Yeah but it's Canadian. Do those even count? :laughing7:

J/K. Nice haul. You are doing better than me. I've only found one half in all my hunts.

Great score! Good job on the video too!
Cheers

Those Silver Fifty's don't show up too often- even on the Canadian metal detecting site that I visit - very nice finds !

Nice work, that's an nice chunk of Canadian silver!

Steve

Loved your video skill, great finds, congrats!

Don't you just love it when you first see that big silver coming out of the hole you just dug! Disbelief for a few seconds and then joy! I've noticed a few wheaties too, It seems I am finding those older Canadian pennies from the 50's & 60's most months. You have many of our 1 cent wheaties & Lincolns in the ground and we have quite a few of your types. Nice finds!

Awesome silver. Still searching for mine (other then a couple silver Rosie's) nice job and coin
