I just recently gained permission to hunt an old church property here in town, which had become the local Masonic Lodge Hall after the church closed. The Masonic Lodge has now combined with a lodge from another town due to declining membership and attendance so the building has now been taken over as storage for an appliance and furniture store. This ring rang in at a solid 56 VDI on my V3i, same as a zinc cent, so I was surprised when out popped what I thought was a gold ring (due to the lack of tarnish). However, I was disappointed when I got it home and tested it. It doesn't test out as gold, nor does it have any karat stamp or hallmark at all. These photos were after cleanup of course, but no polishing. Maybe gold plating?

Gold or not it's still a nice ring. Looks great.

Nice find thanks for sharing and congrats on the success.

Very nice Masonic ring!

Still a nice masonic ring, probably has some value to a collector.

Gold or not , that is one sweet ring ! Congrats

sweet ring find, love it

Thanks to all, wish you all success and fun in your hunts!!

Nice ring. Get a test kit for cheap online, and then you have it for all your finds. Looks like rose gold to me. Great find either way!

Just saw you said you tested it- hmm- still looks real from here. To a Jeweler! best of luck!

Congrats! It sure looks like gold. Platinum copper mix maybe?

Even though it's not stamped, it still could be gold. Not sure if you did an acid test but I'm wondering if it's 10K. The Masonic symbol is done in enamel which is typically put in a kiln. I would be surprised if it's not some karat of gold. Fantastic find!

Awesome find. Been way to cold lately but did get out Sunday. Can't wait to swing my detector again.
