I went with vino to the site it all started at. Found a 1861 seated quarter, my first seated anything.
I also found a 1902 Indian head cent, four wheat, a lead seal, and a nice buckle. I'll have more pix later. I was very excited, had a tear in my eye.
Then I licked that coin trying to get as better look.
Thanks George, you put me on another of my first.
Enjoy the pix

Brad

The seated is in very bad shape, but I love her!

I hate to break it to you, but that ain't no silver seated. pretty sure it's a counterfeit that was plated to make it look silver. Probably worth a bit more than the real deal too!

I agree with it being counterfeit. Still super cool! What did it ring up as on your Garrett?

I just weighed it, started wondering after I left for dinner. It started looking plated. It weighs 4.8 Grams should be 6.2200
This was found at a site that there are no reenactments. I'll have to start research for counterfeits.

Thanks Neil

Had a feeling it was counterfeit but didn't want to make an ass out if myself lol. That makes it cooler to me. It was pretty obvious that it wasn't solid silver. It's a very cool find bud. I'm liking it

Thanks, I'm thinking the same thing, very interesting.

I was swinging my new Deus, was a 95 on that. Probally would equate to a 85 on the Pro.
Thanks, It is still cool, especially where the site is. This is a very historic place George Washington might have slept there, but I do know he was there. I also know it wasn't his seated. He died Dec 1799.

I have a seated half, both a real one and a counterfeit one. They are both exceptional finds!

Whatever yours turns out to be, congrats! Firsts are the best!
