Well, my goal for 2014 was to find my first silver coin.(I have found silver, just not a coin) I had a trip planned to a school today but looking at the weather I just decided to hit the private beach by my house. I found a few fishing lures then a pretty cool bird pendent. After that I moved up to a grassy area that I have been over probably 50 times but it always gives up 60's and 70's clad. Got a signal bouncing from quarter to dime on the AT Pro and just figured it was two clad but when I flipped the plug...:hello: my first silver. Just made it too, a 1964 and with few days to spare. Then my next goal came just minutes later, after a little more clad and even more pull tabs I had a pretty solid 45 and out comes some 10k. :headbang: with emeralds and possibly small diamonds, I haven't cleaned them up to much. Not even sure if I left some chain because the piece that was still stuck with it is the smallest chain I have ever seen, like fishing line thin I'm guessing that's why it broke.

That is awesome! Happy for you. I know it is a rare thing to find your first Silver coin and First Gold on the same day. I for one, can say I did as well. About four years ago when I first began detecting, I found Gold first (small 14 carat) wedding band and later (the same day) at a different location I found a 1912s Barber dime. Big congrats, part of what makes this hobby so great is the stories that go along with our finds!

Thanks! I'm up in the pacific northwest so older coins are a little harder to find. My city wasn't even really a town until 1922 and still not a lot of people, but I'll keep looking and take what I can get.:occasion14:

Congrats on getting your first silver and gold and for Christmas! WTG! No gift wrapping involved (unless you count the dirt)! Be sure and go back and check for the rest of the chain with a pin pointer.

Seems like a lot of those "64's" out there. I once found a 64 Rosie in the dirt, another 64 Rosie in the Coinstar return slot , and a 64 quarter in the park, all in the same week!! Still got 'em too. Nice finds, Coolest !!
