I got out today for the first time this year and found my first silver quarter! It was about six inches down and the best part was it was in my own back yard :) I also found my second wheat penny and some clad as well as another little car and a brass buckle. It was a great first day with my new AT Pro. Is a quarter considered "big silver"?

Congrats on your first Silver Quarter and a SLQ at that!! Big Silver is generally 1/2 dollars or Silver dollars.

Thanks for answering that "big silver" question Metal Illness. I have so many "firsts" to still find :) I am just marking them off one at a time and loving each one...thanks again.

Amazing, and I am seriously jealous. 2015 will be my ninth summer detecting, and while I have found a lot of nice things, I am STILL waiting for my first silver quarter. I certainly would consider it a big silver. Congrats.

Hi Pinball; Nice Find. Silver is always good ok. It is a Standing Liberty Quarter, (1916 - 1931). Value is about 4x Face value or $1.00 ok. Good luck. Happy Hunting. PEACE:RONB

A walker is considered big silver to me! I've found a hundred silvers but never a SLQ. Nice score!

Congrats and may you have many more in the future!

Congrats on your silver quarter. I wouldn't consider a quarter as little silver so it must be pretty darn close to big silver.

Loco-Digger I went out around 2pm and my knees were wet but that was it. Half of the yard was still frozen solid after the the first two inches so I will save that for next week. Yes Slowwevo there three stars under the eagle. Can that help date the coin? Thanks for all of the replies.

Congrats. First silver quarter I found was big silver to me!

I can't wait to buy a detector. Wifey says I can buy one right after we get a new front door, dishwasher, and a bed....or as soon as I sell my biodiesel processing equipment. One addiction at a time!...I'm patient.
