My First Treasure Find…..About 5 years ago

Two years ago I was invited to an 85th birthday party for a fellow worker. I had worked with him back in the 60’s and 70’s. His son was telling me some of his family history. His great grand parents had come from Prussia and had died on the way to Sacramento. But their four children had survived. He told me how they had buried their live savings and given the map to the children because they didn’t trust the people in the wagon train.
He had been looking for the treasure for twenty years and was no closer to finding it than when he started. He showed me a copy of the map and there was only three reference points on it. One was a meadow with the wagon trail going through it. The second was a stream that ran out of the meadow and ran to a pond with an x by three drawn rocks. One was round, the center one was oval with one side at an angle and the third looked like the center rock but in reverse like maybe at one time they were one rock.
What caught my attention was a notation below the pond. It said that the stream went underground. I knew this had to be a translation and could mean a lot of different things I told him about a stream I had fished when I was a kid. It was in the general area and about two miles of it ran under large slabs of shale. I remember catching Black Trout in the openings between the slabs of shale.
We took a weekend last summer and found the stream. You remember when you were young distance didn’t mean as much as you never got tried. We were miles away from where we started. The stream is one of those no name blue lines on the maps. He spent part of this summer researching the wagon trails above.
Up on top where the wagons all came over the summit there is ruts wore in the granite that are still visible today. After they came over the summit there is a lot of routes that could be taken. He soon found that the Official Trail did not go to our stream. He then had two of his grandsons walk up the stream (a long steep rocky climb) until they got to the spring and take a GPS reading. They found no pond on the way up or down.
He called me in September and said he had permission to camp on the ranch so we sat up a base camp.
Two weeks ago we took his Quads up and programmed our GPS and went three and a half miles to the spring. We went down stream for about ½ mile and the stream went under the slate rocks. I looked back up stream and thought to my self that if I were a Beaver this would be a good place to build a dam.
I checked for gold signals and followed the signal and there was the three BOULDERS obscured by the brush. I also had a silver signal to the same spot.
It was buried between three and four feet deep so we decided to let the kids dig the hole some other time.
The Family went up last week and found the remains of an iron box, a few pieces of silver jewelry and $75. They are a happy bunch of people.
What is amazing to me is how fate can bring two pieces of information together. I wish my other project was this easy because I have close to a hundred hours in it and don’t know what the results will be.

The grandson of a gentleman who supported his family in the 1930’s with gold told me this story. His grandfather would leave home and return the next evening with the gold. One day he didn’t return. He was found about a 100 yards from his car. We knew what time he left home and where he went. That gave him about 6 hours to walk to the gold that day. I had my grandsons walk from where the car was parked for 6 hours. I then made a map of the area. It turned out to be 16 square miles of area to search. After griding the area and putting GPS readings on the map I started my search. I spent a lot of hours over a 3 year period looking for this gold. I did find one deposit of placer gold but no other deposits. There was the remains of an old screening system at the location. Did I get it all…I can’t say for sure as searching that much area there is always room for error. If I didn’t get it all someone else can have it….Art

Hey Jon…This story is on a number of mining forums…I enjoy telling others how things can happen…I am not as active as I used to be but I have so many good memories that it is fun to pass them on….I miss the nights around the fire...If you take one of those kids bubble rings and blow bubbles ove a camp fire they will rise and are so pretty to watch...Art

This may not count. My first Dowsing find was TN and Art :). I knew people who could Dowse, I was facinated by the concept. Thanks to Art I tried it, I can do it. Today my Dad told me my Grandfather and Uncle used to do it with a williow switch. Personally I use bent coat hangers I have tried Dowsing for water, gas, electric, and silver coins, why it works....there are lots of unproven theorys

Yesterday my husband asks me to find his water line so he can divert it, I was rather flattered. He has seen it done, watched me, tried it him self with out success. So I found his line, my rods turned to either side of me. He marked the spot....says close yor eyes and do it again....same place..made me do it 3 times with my eyes closed, same exact results. He's sold. A friend was over, I convinced the friend and my husband to try.....the rods never moved.

Here's the funny part they hand them back to me, I walk the line again sure enough the rods cross but.....instead of gong right and left, they cross each other in front of me. Jokingly I say "Honey you reversed my polarity :P" Sure enough I switch the rods in my hands and they go back to right and left. I have to tell you he had a general idea where the lines were, I hit it exact.

Thanks Art!

CG...I've been told you have to "believe" or it won't work. I've also been told that if a non-believer places their hand on you, it won't work for you. You ought to try that with your Hubby some time. Let me know if that's the case!

Hey COUNTRY GIRL….About a year ago I had a stroke. The rods would no longer work properly. I worked hard to recover from this. I now can Dowse again but I had to change my hand and arm position and the length of my rods. So I think it has a lot to do with the amount of energy your body and mind produce. The rods will turn towards people who have strong auras….Thanks for the comments.....Art

I've heard something similar. Only, in the version I heard, a non-believer just had to somewhere near you, and all their negative vibes would throw off your dowsing.

Because it makes perfect sense, right?

You know, my car wouldn't start the other day, then I realized that my dogs were thinking negative thoughts because I didn't take them with me. So, I put them in the backyard, and the car started up fine!

It's a mad, mad, mad, mad, mad, mad world, eh Art?

You know I really like the thoughts and theory's behind dowsing. The idea it could have something to do with magnetic fields, people posessing more magnetite than others. Nothing has been proven why some people can dowse and some can't.

I really don't even like lurking in these threads very often.....way to many negative "VIBES". Even if people are VERY nice outside this forum ;).

I'm gonna go play with my rods, :P.

I was reading a post this morning and it brought back a memory. I had went up to Sopiago Creek one day to do some dowsing. When I was walking in I noticed a camp along the creek so I knew a friend of mine was dredging there. On the way out I stopped by the camp to see Ron. He showed me 7 small nuggets that he had found. There is not a lot of overburden on the bedrock in this area of the creek. He said he had come up after about 2 hours and found the nuggets in his sluice. He went back and checked the area but found no more.

I went in the water and found a good gold signal at the edge of where he had dredged. He got back in and dredged around my feet. This spot had a lot of sand so he went slow and saw some gold go in the nozzle. When he shut down he had 6 more small nuggets. We had a couple beers and I went home. ….Art
