I have always been interested in history. But it takes on a new meaning when you unearth it yourself. I am very new to this and have a great respect for anyone doing this longer than me. Many strange firsts (first silver was a 1943 war nickel-first 1800's coin 1851 large cent). The strange thing is they both doubled on another property only a mile and a half away. Found and returned my first lost ring with a history to follow(lost 45 years). Lincoln death medal that looks as if its been torn from some ones neck then cut in half(tensions were high here in the north too-sorry haven't photographed this piece yet). Another northern civil war era find was a 1864 2 cent piece. Within the same area I Have found a relic dating to the 1700's(one of 2 partial Robert Well's bell pieces this one silver). On a trip to Pennsylvania I happened to dig the other Well's piece and a 1746 half penny. I consider myself very lucky with what I have been able to find with local research and some hard work with my first short year of 5 months in.
