My Garrett Ace 400 and my $1 auction purchase Coinmaster. Yes, I started my obsession with that coinmaster over 6 years ago. No manual, no pinpointer, just time and patience. When I got that Coinmaster I told myself if I enjoy detecting, then I’ll upgrade. Took me time to save my pennies, but I did upgrade.
What did everyone else first start with?

White's Coinmaster 6000D (have had for decades)

My first detector was a present from my parents in 1971. I was 12. The first couple thing I found with it back then were a knife and an old brass brooch in the backyard where I grew up. I know I still have the brooch somewhere, just have to find it. I don't remember what happened to the detector, probable ended up broken and thrown away. Only an on-off switch and a red knob on the coil that adjusts the sensitivity if I remember correctly.

I had forgotten the name of the detector so it took me a very long time, but I finally found the same one I had online, in great condition. I'm just waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Even has its original box.

And I still have my first 'real' detector from decades ago, White's Coinmaster but it recently stopped working.
