civil war breast plate.jpg Today I was playing around in my front yard with my White's MXT detector and found this Union eagle breast plate. It was olny 6 inches below the surface!!!! :hello2: :hello2:The eagle sideis in decent shape with one rust spot where a hook on the back use to be . The lead on the back is in poor condition and the hooks are gone but that is to be expected I guess being in the ground for 150+ yrs. Any ideas what the value of this find might be?:icon_scratch:

I think that it could be a pre-war breast plate.. Do you have O'Donnell's military belt plates book?

Check it against the 1832-1840 version. I don't have the book on me now. but will look later.
