My metal detector went nuts.....lol

Hi Gang,

Sorry if i post today but this is my best find so far with metal detecting....I dont even own one....lol,,,my friend is kind Enough to let me have is...

After a year and 1/2 of finding ....nothing i finnally found a hidden box...The reason it was long is i got the goods appraised...

Any ways, Here's the story...In Montreal and the area, we often find first Nation artifacts detecting, Mohawks, Hurons ...used to cross St-Laurent and lots of items are found on Islands and near by....

We also know where some battles took place so we dig there....

I discovered a wooden box containing a tin with items wraped in cloth....coins, and jewells...2 old Pocket watches....coins are up to 1955 so i am guessing t must have been baried not to long after with the shape of the box....

I hope you didn't spend any money getting them appraised? You could have got free answers on here. None of them are high value coins but at least they are in good shape, congrats on an unusual find!

All are authentic ancient Roman coins, #1 and#5 are worth $15, 2, 3 and 4 are worth $5-10, 6 is worth $50, #7 is worth $10-15, #8 is worth $20-25 and has a really cool reverse, #9 is worth $20-25 also, #10 is worth $50 but may have some bronze disease and would be worth more if you can treat it a little.

Yes, North American prices are often about double the UK prices because we don't have a local supply to unearth. I have hundreds of ancients in my collection so know them pretty well - only wish I had the opportunity to dig some!

So, if this is correct, the Roman coins are worth $195-$225. Add in the watches and jewels, nice find! Congratz!
