My recent finds with photo

I don't post much because I rarely find anything spectacular. The occasional War Nickel or 40% in between skunk boxes, but I have found a few things recently that I thought might interest a few of the numismatists. First I'll start with with the non photo finds. In the past month, I did 4 nickel boxes and found 6 war nickels and a buffalo. It had a clear date, but it was common. I still like finding those though.

I also did 2 boxes of pennies and I found some cool stuff.
-a 1930 wheatie with about 8 other 40's and 50's
-a blank planchet. I can't tell if it is a type 1 or type 2. I'm pretty sure type 1 because there isn't a distinct edge. It just feels slightly raised, but that could just be the effect of punching out the planchets. Sorry for no photo, but feel free to search ebay to see what I'm talking about.
-a 1998 Wide AM. I know it isn't the most valuable, but I started setting aside 98-00 and 92's to go through in batches and I finally did. This was a fun find. It's in pretty nice condition, so it's probably worth a few dollars, but I plan to keep it. Too much work for not enough $ to justify selling it. Searching varieties often feels like work instead of fun, so I try to limit my quantities I do at one time. no photo here either because the date and AM are on opposite sides. I can't really "prove" my find.

I'd love to hear thoughts on the finds above, but now on to the finds that have photos:
First is what might be PMD, but I'm not convinced it is. hopefully the photo is clear enough that someone can weight in. Is this nickel PMD or a strike error?

Finally this is my biggie. I "THINK" I found a 1970S small date. I tried a lot of things to get a good photo, but I couldn't get one straight on that still had enough light to see it. I hope that someone can weigh in on this. If you do think it is a small date, any thoughts on condition?

Thanks everyone. I hope you enjoy the couple pics. I appreciate all of you that take the time to post your photos. It does take a little effort so I try and do it from time to time, even if my finds aren't dream boxes!!

I take that back I can't really tell from the pics. It looks like a low seven but a more curled "9" I'm the date.

Well, I hope you are wrong, but you are younger than me and probably have better eyesight. For those that don't know, I'm using this page as my basis.

I forgot to give my best guess as to grade mm the pictures are blurry so it is REALLY hard to tell how much detail is in the hair. I'd grade it XF-40

Thanks Copper. I'm not trying to sway anyone. I can't do any more pics tonight, but I'll try to get another taken/posted in the next couple days. Thanks for your input. I don't know if you ever saw my PM, but your WAM finds are what motivated me to start searching for varieties. Congrats!!

IGNORE EVERYTHING I JUST SAID I'M SORRY!!! Large date! Liberty is strong and the point of the 9 is angled straight towards the "s" mint mark. I apologize if I got your hopes up

Thank you once again I apologize. Bette pics would help a lot. It's a tough one to identify. If you posted it on lincolncentresoucres forums they could identify it in probably 3 seconds.

I take it back. I do have one (but it was so dark I didn't realize I did). I cropped it and zoomed in on the date. Hopefully this will help.

thanks CC. The good thing is that pulling out the S mints makes it easy to set them aside to search later. I probably only find the same amount of S mint cents as I do wheats, and only a fraction are obviously 1970, so that's why i do it. Anyway, thanks for the assistance!

Good point, I might start pulling the s mints and selling them on eBay in 1,000 coin lots I saw someone sell 1,000 of them on eBay for $44 plus shipping. Good luck to you in your future hunts! I hope one of us finds that 1992 CAM!! Let me know what you find!

I'm new to coin collecting and even newer to CRH. But the easy way to tell the difference between large and small date pennies (works for 1970S and 1982) is the distance between the last digit of the date and the rim. On small date varieties, the distance is at least a full character height. On large date varieties, the distance is only a little more than half a character height. I can see in the picture that the distance is only a little more than half the height of the "0". So definitely large date.

Yeah,
I'm worry to say I was wrong. Looking through the loupe now, I don't know how I messed this up, but it's disappointing. I would have sworn it looked like a small date. Oh well. Thanks everyone. Hopefully you can at least enjoy a good laugh at my jumping the gun. haha.
