After 20 years of detecting i finally found my second gold coin,a 1882 English half Sovereign.
I had finished detecting for the morning finding 1 1936 penny 1 1946 shilling and an old Brass Military button.
As i was making my way to the car i was still swinging the detector when it registed 28 on the meter, that told me it was either a pulltab or a gold object, sure enough 3 inches down was the Sovereign.

Hi and thanks for your comment's my first gold coin is a full Sovereign which the previous owner decided to turn into a pendant thus ruining the coin which now is worth only the gold content.
I had found it about 10 years ago in the Swan river chest deep with one of the first Whites PI underwater detectors that came out. Since then i have upgraded 4 times and am now running the Excalibur with good success.
Some one told me that the symbol's cut into the coin are Jewish and are supposed to bring good luck to the owner, obviously they were wrong otherwise he would still be wearing it.
The second coin surprised me the most as i found it in a spot that i would never have thought of looking ,it was only that i decided to keep swinging the detector as i was making my way back to the car that i found it.
Here is a pic of the first coin. Cheers Raoul
