Good job RR and think you found it even though you were using a DFX!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

Yea but it had to be on top of the ground or he wouldn't have found it. That's what I hear about DFX's

Sweet Find RR!
Most makers placed the mark on the inside of the heel or on the underside edge of the shank.
Looks like a roper's spur.

Wow! I was outstanding in the field :P and didn't get to the cars in time to see that! Awesome spur.

What part of that field did you find that?

Great hunting with you and your posse.

Burdie, that was a good one......Although better finding it with a DFX on the ground than with a Garret that mysteriously caught on fire!!!!

Re: My Second site CTH Spur....My first spur ever, help with info please

Dang! I started to return for the follow up, unofficial hunt but I was a long ways off and had out of town company waiting for me at home. I'd rather be in Philadel....uh, I mean Caldwell Kansas if I had my druthers. That is a great find, and the exact picture of finds I had in my mind when I was anticipating the CTH. You know there are probably thousands of same such finds just waiting for we Tnet members to discover them. Or at least Stoney and Burdie will have the opportunity to find in the coming years. But perhaps Burdie will see his way to once again work that hard to make it available for all who can attend? How about that Burdie? At the main hunt several Tnetters placed their finds on one of the tables under the awning and although most of the finds had no actual value, they all gave us a glimpse of what had transpired along the Chisholm Trail in days gone by. It was a history buff's dream come true. Me? I only found an old curry comb with the handle long ago rotted away and still I can picture some pioneer or drover taking care of his livestock with it as the livestock was his lifeline to the future. Wonderful experience. And in the words of Montgomery Burns ( imagine his accent) EXCELLENT!! M :D nty

Stoney,

It'd be great to have the mate to go with it..... I wish you all the luck in finding it cause I'd sure like to pair them back up.

If you saw the spur up close you will notice the exact one in the pic....

I'm dang excited....

Awesome! It's always great knowing what era an item comes from. Even more intriguing is that it was a Calvary Officers spur. That field has strong potential.
