I got out for a short hunt yesterday morning and didn't have to go far, right out in my own backyard. I decided it had been too long and I needed a fix. I took out the X-70 and went to my garden spot(nothing planted this year) where I pulled a couple of wheats and my only buffalo nickel a couple years ago. Worked it for a few minutes and picked up a couple of pieces of trash a buckle piece and then got a decent signal. Dug a hole and it ended up in the dirt pile. Searched by handfulls of dirt till I had it in hand. Pulled out a round disk, flipped it over and saw a V on it. Brought it inside and cleaned it up a bit and had a 1912 V-Nickel which is only my second V-Nickel ever. Happy Hunting All.

I did check for a mint mark but the back is so crusty and in such bad shape I can't see a thing.

Very Nice, congrats How old is your house?

The house is 1950 or there abouts. There was an old homesite on the property a little further behind my house years ago. The only sign of it now is an old grape arbor and a couple of fruit trees. My garden spot has turned up wheat cents, a buffalo nickel, and now the V. I have found some very interesting finds right in my yard. I think I will make a post for all my yard finds soon.
