I wanted to share what else I have pulled out of my new site. After that bust half, 2 reale, 1 reale spill and the US Box Plate on 4/11 and 4/12 trips, I couldn't wait to get back there. But I think I used all my luck that weekend, since these finds made me work really hard for them and I dug another 40-50lbs of big iron. I spent a total of 12 hours back there between two trips in the last week.
Nothing spectacular on the last two trips, but still some cool relics. I've dug most of the easy targets, but I know I've hardly scratched the surface. This is a big and dense iron patch and I can only imagine whats hiding under all that iron.
Here are the new relics:
Some of these relics date much earlier, but the brass spoon on the right was a silver plated "C. Parker" spoon, which dates to the mid to late 1800's. The oil lamp collar has a patent date of 1882. One of the two brass\copper, disks-with-slit-doohickeys, in the bottom right area has a patent date of 1864 or 1865 in it... still trying to figure out what those are... maybe more lamp parts.
This place is loaded with harmonica reeds... this is only a few of the new reeds, but two still had the wood material on the inside. I got the loose dirt off, then dipped them in hot wax to seal the brittle insides together.
This was one, like a few others, I couldn't even pinpoint, but would dig a huge plug... toss around the dirt and re-scan. Sometimes that method would pay off after moving the nails and small iron around to where I would get a good signal. This one is a toasted 28mm copper... prob a early large cent... but appears to be worn smooth, then scraped with something before being lost.
I was bummed this was missing half... its an old break and I couldn't locate the rest of it.
These are always nice to come across. While digging other plugs, these porcelain buttons got turned up.
Lastly, most of the keeper relics I've dug here so far. I have some others from earlier pictures in other cases and nice iron finds are still in electrolysis.
