We are nearing completion of our winter project of installing a new kitchen from floor joists up . Sub
floor is in place but needs screwed down before the hardwood flooring goes in place .
Being off work today , my wife offered to help .
"You could screw the sub floor down while I'm working on other details ," I told her," Just drive the screws on 6 inch centers across each sheet of plywood ."
A few minutes later I came down the ladder from taping drywall to check her progress . The screw gun had been running almost nonstop .
Bless her for wanting to help .............
My dear lady had driven 16 perfectly placed screws in 36 square inches of sub floor (6"x6").
"Ummm , ah , mebbie you could space them a bit further apart ,"I suggested .
Measuring between two screws with her thumb and index finger she turned to me with an ornery look
in her eye and said ,
"But , Honey ! You always told me that this much was 6 inches ."
I got back on my ladder and tended to my own project ...................
