Hi, I bought this at a silent auction at a Gem and Mineral show, figuring I could slab it. They identified it as a "rock." The camera is a little off--the blue-gray is actually a pretty dark blue, and the brown has a lot of green tinge to it. Both the colors are easily scratched with a knife, but the white doesn't scratch. It also doesn't change to orange or red under UV, dashing my hopes of sodalite. 20200114_222959.jpg20200114_223046.jpg20200114_222927.jpg

Try an acid test to check for calcite on the softer parts. The harder parts look like a chert.

Tried vinegar, and nothing. I also thought blue calcite is a lot lighter--this is like a navy blue. It'll be interesting to cut and slab to see what happens.

Also, the Gem & Mineral Show was in Arizona, so I assume it was found in the Southwest US somewhere...
