It's the Algonquin (Iroquois) False Face god. About 20 years ago they found one in my county.

Face rocks aren’t exactly rare, their acknowledgement is.

I can see the carvings in it that look like a face and it doesn't look like a geofact. Maybe it's broken off a larger piece or a wall of stone. It's very curious and interesting to me.

Interesting I dont think its to far fetched for a ancient to of carved it the eyes look carved in might of been done by a child cause if it was done by a master carver it wouldnt be no doubt at all.

Odd for sure , also seems odd a farmer would bother with a stone only 16” x 22”

Unless they were breaking virgin ground, I’m surprised that big of a rock is still near the surface in a plowed field. (If it was stuck in the ground a rock that size could put your chest hard into the steering wheel of small farm tractor and plow, or trip/shear/break something on a bigger set up.)

In two of his publications, "Picture Rocks: American Indian Rock Art in the Northeast Woodlands", and "Amulets, Effigies, Fetishes, and Charms. Native American Artifacts and Spirit Stones from the Northeast", my friend and colleague, archaeologist Ed Lenik, of NJ, illustrates quite a few stone heads that are likely Native American in origin. Ed specializes in the study of rock art, petroglyphs, and pictographs found in Northeastern states.

It might also be worth noting, in view of the fact that smokeythecat mentioned the face masks of the Iroquois False Face Society, that quite a few carved granite heads, not included in Lenik's books, and showing no marks from metal tools, and weighing from as little as 2 1/2 pounds, to as much as 25 pounds, have been found in fairly recent years, at several locations in central Massachusetts. Most show mouths that really are remindful of the Iroquois false face masks, but, nobody really knows the origin of these rather mysterious stone heads.

Here are a few of these granitic stone heads from central Massachusetts. (The first one on the left below is from Maine. All the others were found in central Ma.)

The example on the left in the photo below, weighs 25 pounds:

Here's a nice one, maybe the best....

Check this out! A carved face on the bottom of a soapstone bowl, from Providence, RI:
