Mystery Tool from Estate Sale

I bought this tool at an estate sale for $1. It has what looks like some jaws in the barrel (2nd photo) that you can clamp while turning the nut that is just above the handle. The nut assembly is on a spring so you can pull the jaws back an inch or so. There are no identifying numbers or company name on it, only made in USA. Anyone know what this is?

I think you are right Luke. It looks just like the mechanism of a Stanley 175R handle. Thanks.

I have a couple of this style of handle kicking around, I picked them up when I came across them until I found one that felt great & worked well, it took a few lol. Nice find.
