Square nails were popular up until the turn of the century (ca 1900) . They are actually still made today but very rarely used. Its almost impossible to date the nail. By the corrosion amount i say it has some age to it though. Gotta be more stuff at that site :)

when I see square nails like that I think Turn of the Century

1900 ish (1870's - 1910's) however only a guess

that is something I'd like to see, a uniform table, to date square nails

Ive found square nails at many late 1700s sites. They were probably even used before that. They had to hold that wood together with something! Haha
