Hi, I live about 5 miles from the Trace and the spot where Meriwhether Lewis was killed/suicide ( not really known which). The Trace is truely filled with history and many spots which I have visited would be great places to hunt. Unfortunately this is absolutely not allowed. There is many people watching the whole Trace route. They even go as far as not letting and commercial vehicles on it, even company vehicles. Only trailers you can have is like a boat trailer or motor home type. But, a simple planned day of just driving the trace and stopping at historical sites is one that me and my daughter truely enjoy.
Well Jeff one would have to assume there is. Sounds like a good project for us THers in the area. What do you say guys/gals? If we all work on this maybe we can find a place and have a hunt one weekend!
Ok lets do this! I plan to drive the trace this weekend maybe and have a look. I brought it up on GoogleEarth but I can't zoom in real close. Looks like there is ALOT of farm land that we might be able to get permissions to.
Twister what all do you know about it? Your closer so I guess you have a better idea as to where we might could hunt. I guess we could use this thread to converse on the subject and maybe people intrested could swap PMs or even phone numbers..What does eveyone think?
The Trace isn't that wide of space and there are plenty of farm sites, public roads, old cementarys etc....
Twister.... I'm in Linden, Tn.... we need to hook up sometime....
Mike your not that far off either....
If you get off the Trace at Napier....... there are some old church's, graveyards, and not far off a house site from the 1830's...... Twister it's on the road with Jerry's One Stop....just past the low water bridge....
I know exactly the area you are talking about with the low water bridge. I didnt know about the vhurch in that area though. That would be a great place to go. Yes we definitely should hook up. I have been talking to another hunter that lives inSummertown. Maybe all 3 of us should get together and rach our heads and get some good leads. Im glad that there finally some hunters areound my area. Sounds great!!
No problem............ would definatley like to try this.....
I love going around the trace......
There are two church buildings that are closed off Napier Rd., there is the site of the old Sears house.... near Naco..... and then there is....
Just off the low water bridge there was a house from the 1830's that burnt down a few years back.... the site where the old house was in the front yard of a doublewide.... 1st building on left before the curve.....
Hey!
I was on the crew that moved that house (it didn't burn)
It was a big 2 story "dog-trot" and we moved it to a hill top in the Cross Bridges area.
There used to be a canoe rental place right across the road from it.
I was not into metal detecting when we moved it. (shucks!)
That yard will surely be full of pop-tops etc. but.......
I'm up for it.
I can think of a couple of others in that area if I can still remember just how to get to them.
One is a single pen cabin that actually had a big barn built around it.

Hi, I'm Kathy, and I'm in Camden. I've just bought a bounty hunter and just done a little in my backyard. It would be great to have a club and other people to hunt with. As to Natchez Trace, I know it goes all over the place, and near me it's a regular street.
