After securing permission to hunt a freshly plowed field in the oldest section of town, I got out in the heat for a few hours yesterday. Not much, but better than nothing, considering what I found on the headlands I never got to venture into the field. Will wait for rain and a little cooler weather for the next venture out. Many, many glass shards in the field, the jar is not Ponds...the glass has "wings", so no clue. This land adjoins the cemetery, I have all the property to hunt, I just did the easy part being in the plowed field area. I was thinking maybe the "rod" thing was from part of the fence bordering several of the grave sites. It was found between the field & cemetery under about 4 inches of dirt/leaves under a very large live oak. Will post the rest of the pictures of it on the "What Is It" thread. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php?topic=420121.msg2994778#msg2994778

March would be a great time to hunt some of that field. ;D :icon_thumleft:
Congrats on the finds and getting that site to hunt.

Your field certainly sounds like it'll hold some promise for future finds. I bet if you have a good rain or if hurricane Irene had come a bit closer to you that would've helped. :D I was in Monroe and Shreveport in June and the folks there were telling me, it had been weeks since they had a significant rainfall.

Maybe this fall you'll have better luck.

Dave

P.S. Is there anything inside the milkglass jar you found? :icon_scratch:

Couldn't get the lid off, nothing shakes, rattles or rolls inside.

Yep, need the rain, more glass shards will show up in the field...and will make digging easier.
