Was hunting with a garrett gta 350, hit a silver dollar signal solid. Maybe 2" down, when i checked hole with handheld pinpointer it did not detect rock. Checked again with detector and pulled out rock. Held in hand and detector still picked it up but handheld did not. Also a magnet does stick to it. Could this be a meteor? Need some input. Also it weighs 2 or 3 oz. size about 1.5" x 1.5". Thank's Tom

If that was a real meteorite with enough nickle/iron set off a detector a magnet would stick easily to it. You could always put a torch to it and if it keeps burning it is definitely coal. A regular torch would just make a meteorite glow red hot after a significant amount of time under the flame. Don't feel bad, metorites are hard to find but they can be found so don't give up, just keep looking. HH!
