Not found by me, but a friend that has scored permission to hunt an 1800s property. House will be demolished sometime in the near future.
Kind of looks like an early navy button to me? He only found the front. The back is missing.

Thanks in advance for any help IDing this find. Era in history that it is from would be nice also.

A agree with the modern blazer button ID, especially due to the rusted out and missing iron back.
