took the MXt out and hit a old cellar hole that i found hiking last year. this one is not mentioned on my town map from mid 1800s.i dug a bunch of square nails and some hunks of old iron. finally got a good hit 5 in down a vdi of around ten. i find this button! this has got to be old.i would love to know anything anyone could tell me about it.

Pewter button. 1700s. Please take a look at my post in the cleaning and preservation section of the forum on "How to Clean Buttons." If you are a subscriber to Western and Eastern Treasures Magazine, then you can see a similar article published there a few months ago.

Best Wishes,

Buck

Not much worth monetary...but it looks great in a display case--and more importantly since you had the honor of digging a great 1700s find, you should strongly consider preserving it so it doesn't crumble away.
