Need Help ID'ing Tool?

Hi all,

Was hoping someone could give me some insight as to what this is - found it in a heavily wooded area in Central Mass. It's about 6" long and appears to be broken on one side. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

ya it was for rocks on the side you will notice a piece is broken off. it would of been used to chip away at a block or stone.

Just guessing but maybe it is a homemade hitch pin or pin for securing a door or gate.

Now I never thought of that but it sounds like a practical use.
