Eye balled this one on a coastal site. Ive found everything from colonial to mid 1900's at this site. Somehow this one was intact just laying in the mud. Its very dark I'm not even sure what color it is. Black/SuperDark Amber/Dark Purple not sure. The lip looks to be put on by hand for sure. I think it has a pontil (i think thats how it is spelled) on the bottom. I drew out what the bottom says. Any help would be appreciated. My guess is 1850-1880's

Hi Stef, you have a 3 pc mold bottle, ( beer or ale). 1880-90 is about right on the date. Sorry, that's not a pontil scar

Strong probability your bottle was made in England somewhere. They were still using this technique up to 20th century.

Hold it up to the sun. You'll see the true color towards the top. I'm betting a dark green

Yep, Trimold ale. We find them quite regularly here. It will be green I'm betting. Nice one. jgas
