Looks to me that in the area there are a set of 4 Bolders and you go in between them there should be another sign, or some thing to see. Possibly an out cropping of rock on each side of a wash that look like two Bolders on each side.

The Spanish used the #8 not just as a number but as a site marker or notice marker.
This is an important one in that it says there is a cache involved, and that it was big enough to split in two.
Look for other marks that give directions to the area that may be involved, it should be fun to decipher and see if it all is still there or even half of it. This is one to play close to the vest and not get too public about.
