Went back to the site where I found the Kentucky staff button last week hoping to get into something good. But this site is about as dead as a doornail as any one I've ever hunted. In 2 hours yesterday I only recovered a large tombac and this strange looking button which appears to have an iron back, or maybe had a small piece of iron fuse to it. The design on the front looks to be some kind of a scene with a couple houses and a few trees, but its hard to see the details. I'm pretty sure this is nothing more than an 1800s decorative civilian button of some type, but was wondering if anyone had ever run across one of these before.

I really don't know Bill, but it looks almost like a European village. I have one similar that I dug years ago but can't find it right now. I hope you find out something. Tennessee digger

Seems like Don in SJ has dug a couple "scene" buttons, including one with an old Mill on the front of it.

Could be an overall button with it having an iron back.
