need some coin help I found this coin or token on 01/23/2010 it is the same on both sides and same size as a penny and twice as thick it looks like a j and 18. I found it in eastern panhandle WV

My guess would be a mining token of some sort. Pretty neat token whatever it is from. Do you know what county or town in WV it is from and if there are any mines in that area?

According to my book & the above site agrees, the script 's' for 18 Shilling dates it to late George III (circa 1770s)

Yeah, its a close match, I said circa 1770s as the book range ends in 1804 for this type, so I choose the middle ground.

Just to clear this up, the Geo III Coin Weight is not a coin but a weight for checking the proper weight of coins. Its a check by merchants for fakes.
