I know nothing about about bottles, I am actually into metal detecting. Last Summer I was metal detecting an old house site that my wife's great grandparents used to live in. I'm guessing the house was probably built in the early to mid-1800's. While digging a hole to find something else, I found this little tiny glass bottle in the hole. There is no writing on it that I can see, and to me, it appears to be hand made, because the neck of the bottle is actually crooked. I was wondering if anybody might know what it was used for, and if it might be worth anything.

I've always wondered what the little tiny bottles could possibly accomplish. That aside, if the mold seam runs through the top of the bottle, it is machine made and probably early 1900s. If the seam stops short of the lip, it is probably late 1800s to 1910. No real value either way, but it could mean more are close by...

The mold seam does run to the top of the bottle. I'm like you though, I wonder what a bottle this small would have been used for. Thanks for the info.

Of course. Because it's unembossed, it really could have held anything, but I'm sure that others could try to find a few possibilities for its contents.

Given the size and the pleasing shape, I'd bet cologne.
