Nephew's find - i.d. help

Hi all:

My brother and sister-in-law are clearing some land to put up a small barn. My 9YO nephew eyeballed an old spoon and this crank. They were wondering what it could have been from so I thought I'd ask you all.

I wish I could be there tomorrow when the dozer comes but we're heading up north for a few days of camping. I'll head over Sunday afternoon for sure.

TIA for any help and HH,
Michiganne

Hi Anne,
Diggummup is right. We do need a size reference but, my Grandpa used to have and old workshop set up in my childhood home. It was full of hand crank equipment such as grinders, drills, and even saws. Your handle reminds me a lot of our old hand grinder. If my memory serves me well, that is. :icon_scratch: Hope someone can positively id it for you. Big congrats to your nephew! :hello2:

Maybe a crank from an old corn sheller like this one:

Sorry about the pic, I didn't take it. :) I asked my brother and the total length of the crank is 9".

Thanks, PBK. I was thinking some a cider mill or some other hand-cranked machinery.

I agree, it's a hand crank for some kind of farm machine. Probably as solved as it is going to be unless you find the rest of the machine. Monty

Aug 13: Or it could be an old icecream mixer crank ? Monty
