It's a one of a kind alright!
First one like it in America... Friends from Minelab , New York times, are coming to participate and video the event this summer. Along with many other local news teams July 14th for media day. The week of "Operation Purple" Camp http://www.militaryfamily.org/our-programs/operation-purple/
We teach kids here at the 4-H summer camp responsible metal detecting and exciting treasure seeking. The new Pit is a regulation sized 80x40 ft. x 3feet deep white sand Volley ball court.
I have received Donations from Minelab, Tesoro, Hickory Valley detector sales, Carolina concrete, Southern concrete and Private donations from Treasurenet and SMARTS Treasure club, KX. TN.
We have also received private donations from fellow T-netters supporting the program.
We have done this treasure pit program for about 4 years now and the kids just go crazy over it.
It was time to expand... In a big way!
Aluminum colored tokens (below) are tossed in the bleached white sand and metal detectors are given to the kids to find them.
The tokens after found, are used at the camp store for prizes!!!
Kind of like the chuck e cheese thing.
The pit will be completed Saturday when our Church is coming to donate their time to help for the great cause. The program is is affiliated with our " I Wanna Do's" .. Children get to pick from a list what "They wanna do" that day. I will be doing the "I wanna do" twice a week, all summer long.
I'll post more pic's and the video.... Ian from Research and Recovery (R&R show) Is filming the kids in action.
