That's some nice History right there, congrats. Living near several harbors, I often get the urge to throw a magnet over the side of my boat. From my experience with anchors not being tied off, I think I could find a few of those, but with all the stories of folks loosing the outboards, I am afraid I would find one. Sure as hell when I find an old outboard I am sure I can rebuild it, rebuilding it costs more than a running motor used, and the difference is no outboard I ever rebuilt ever came to life afterwords.
