i really do not know what kind of animal head it is,
i am very puzzled?
funny thing is....... it kinda looks a little bit like a parrot, but it did come from a mandan site
but i think you agree that it isn't
one thing, it don't look like a crane
so much to learn

Lars!! when i first looked at the effigy i though it was a parrot but just not right in some way. keep looking and though mud or water turtle. did some reading up on mandan effigies, yes they did make turtle effigies. i was raised eating the local mud turtles so i have looked at them quite a lot that is why it looked like a turtle to me. i now think that it sure is a turtle effigy.

I say Eagle........... Look at the beak. Turtles don't have mouths like that.
