New here and my detector hasn't even arrived yet.

So I ordered a Garrett Ace 250 from Suncoast Detectors. It hasn't arrived yet but it should be here soon. Anyway, I'm from Northern KY, down towards Augusta. Anybody over this way able/willing to help a rookie out? I know a few places that might be good, but need some advice on securing rights to hunt the area's. If they are a public park, is detecting typically allowed?

I have never had any trouble hunting in public parks. Ive done pretty good there over the years and I will say they are great places to learn a new machine.

Welcome to the forum.

Find ya a place to hunt. Augusta is old, surely you can find something there. Ask at old looking places and parks and schools.

Welcome to TNet Walker....I take it that you ordered an Ace 250....If it is...I think you will love it...Had mine since the first part of Feb..the only problem I have is finding time to dig holes...lol You might also try some of the local schools in your area. Usually they don't mind as long as it's not fenced in or the kids are still in school. Have fun and HH.

I might be the guy you are looking for to help you out... I live in Cold Spring, KY... up the road from Augusta a couple of dozen miles.

I used to be the marketing director for Garrett metal detectors and have thousands of hours of experience in the field using Garrett detectors. I am an instructor and have taught over 500 beginners how to use their detectors. Be glad to get together with you after your new machine arrives and help get you off to a good start.

what county in do you live at in kentucky--I may have several tips / leads that you could use. Ivan
