New here, and why does my sluice have a hole in the end of it!? AM Omega

Hello everyone, my name is Kyle and Treasure Net looks like the place to be! Tons of good stuff in here. I live in Newcastle CA and 27 years old. Well to start discussion, I've got something that has been stumping me the past few days...

I have been searching for hours to figure this out...

Why is there a hole in my last riffle? I bought a used AM Omega and I can only assume the hole is meant to be placed over a container to catch "con tailings"?

It is in the middle of the last boil box drop riffle at the end of the sluice.

I am really stumped...
