Its not 100% done yet still need to add the serrations, sharpen blade, and maybe a new handle to lower the weight (4lb). Anyways here is what I did today!

In Canada it is hard to find a good relic digger at a reasonable price so the handy man that I am I went to the garden shed and found and old solid blade.

Picture Might take a bit to load

Basically did the same thing but left the top (foot lip) full width.
Did not change the handle as I am just cutting plugs with it and wanted it as light weight as possible.

Might put the wood handle or find a short Fibre Glass handle to put on it. Want to lower the weight but I like the look of a T handle.

Could just a suggestion go to a Lowe's or something similar, they have replacement fiberglass handles, for sidewalk brooms, shovels ect, those are very tough,to just an idea, may work may not, I know it does if you were to also make a water scoop also floats & won't water log itself

I was looking for a fibreglass handle and couldn't find them! Then Again Canada doesn't stock nearly as many products as the States in stores.

Hmm can't seem to find any Fibreglass handles for tools at my local CanadianTire, and Homedepot except extendable painting handles.
