You have a very unique situation there. I had a similar one about 50 years ago when the company I worked for layed a 6 foot diameter storm pipe through Saratoga Springs, NY. We dug right through the dump of the famous Grand Union Hotel. Nothing but ashes and bottles. I went home every day with a burlap bag full of bottles while it lasted. Keep at it while you can.

I was hoping this would be just under the picture of the bottle. you will have to scroll back to see the bottle with that Virgin on it.

YES!!

Extraordinary find at the library, congrats on solving the mystery! It's fascinating that there were at least 3 other products made under the brand, and while the salve may have come in an unembossed jar/pot the Liniment and Cough Syrup probably had their own bottles. Hopefully you can find another of them in the dirt piles! Truly awesome, it is a rare thing these days for (presumably) new bottles like that to be discovered. If you see other collectors looking when you're out it might be worth asking them if anyone has seen the "Virgin" brand bottles before.

GEDC2110.JPG GEDC2111.JPG GEDC2112.JPG GEDC2118.JPG GEDC2119.JPG GEDC2120.JPG I was looking for more bottles yesterday. Found a lot of embossed bottles and some local Bottling works bottles but no local drug store bottles which is what I would really like to find. I did dig up a pottery jug and found a second one later after I took the pics of the first one. There is no writing on the jugs so don't know anything about them.

Awesome pics of the rich dump layers, that's some fine pornography for us bottle diggers! Please feel free to post pics of your fresh bottle finds if you're so inclined, and good luck finding more Drug Store and rare Lynd's bottles!

What a beautiful sight. Chances like these don't come very often. Make sure you're out there every day!

If I had a spot like that I would be taking coffee through an iv tube just so my hands would be free to keep on locating more bottles .Like Sandchip said more pictures

A year later now. An update on things would be great, Itown, on what else you found, cleaned up pictures, what the site looks like today, etc.
