New member - First time claim owner

Hi, I decided to finally buy my own placer claim and put my years of I wish I were out there doing that in the past.
I now have 40 acres to play with, hopefully the old timers didn't get it all.
I'm in the Santa Cruz mountains and my claim is in La Porte a few hours north.
I've still yet to set foot on it, but it looks promising from Google Earth.
It will be an adventure one way or the other.
Doing lots of research and I figured I find some others out there of like mind.

Looking forward to learning from the rest of you.

Every state has a department of mines and geology (different states, different names) - and gold has been found in every state.

These state agencies often have very informative, low-cost educational publications. These days, many are free on the Internets - such as this one:
