I have been looking at this site for months now and finally joined. My very first find was a Mississippi star button found
about 16 years ago near White's Ferry along the Potomac. I don't live in VA anymore and have now started prospecting.
I've learned a lot on this site, thanks.

At the time I had a no name metal detector my grandma had gotten me from qvc. I traded the button for my Spectrum XLT. I wish now that I had never done that. I have not yet found anything that good again. I made the trade with a guy named Robert Buttafuso. He was a pretty well known relic hunter in No Va and had a detector shop in Fairfax and has written a few books. I haven't swung my detector since moving to SC.
