Hello Everyone,

Relocated to the Sherman/Denison area of North Texas a few years ago and recently have gotten into metal detecting. Anyone else around the Lake Texoma area? Mostly interested in relic hunting/old coins but am not too familiar with much of the surrounding area. Have also been magnet fishing at Lake Texoma and the Red River.

Thanks,
Mike
Close to Stinnett TX? Kit Carson almost met his maker there at Adobe Walls. Comanches routed him and the army unit he was guiding. I've been there 3 times and will return again someday. TTC

Welcome, I used to live in the area and know quite a bit of the history. Still have a cabin at Texoma and plan on being back there next week. Not sure for how long, maybe we could meet up, there are some old parks in both Sherman and Denison.

Lot of history in that area. Use to be a ferry there on Red River took cows across that where heading up the chisem trail. Chronicales of Oklahoma is a great place to read up on it. Guy running ferry said he took Frank and Jesse across but didn't get in much detail. The James stayed in Denison some
