Hello All, I am new to this Forum, but have looked at a lot of posts from other people that are members of Treasurenet. I seem to get good information from posts on this site. My name is Alan and I have had a Metal Detector for about 8 Years, but never had any one to go with so dodn't ever use it much. Last year my Brother got one and we have been going qiute regular. It is more fun than I imagined. I don't find a great deal of valuable things, I seem to find more relics than anything else.
Enough about me. What I really want to know is has anyone ever heard of Omega, Fla? I found this Token? that says Taylor, Walker & Co. Good in Trade Only Not Transferable Omega, Fla all on one side the other side has 5.00 in large numbers. I don't know if this thing is real or fake or what. It is in pretty bad shape, but I also really enjoy trying to figure out where things came from, their history and the time period. Token.jpg

Welcome to TreasureNet, Alan. I don't see where Omega, FL was, but what you have is a trade token, probably from a "company store" and I'd guess from a lumber company where they worked in a location away from other stores. A 25¢ one from this business is listed on tokencatalog.com, but without a photo. Would it be possible for you to get photos with side-lighting so the writing can be seen? And maybe let me post your pics on tokencatalog? Here's the listing there for the 25¢ one: TAYLOR, WALKER & CO. / GOOD / IN / TRADE ONLY / NOT / TRANSFERABLE / OMEGA, / FLA. (TC-318807) Omega, Florida, U.S.A.

Welcome Aboard Alan! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

So I was a bit frustrated trying to find where Omega, FL is or was. I found numerous references to happenings or people there, but no location. Then I remembered to look in the "Discontinued" section of my 1913 United States Postal Guide. Sure enough, the Omega post office was discontinued sometime between 1 Jul 1910 and 30 Jun 1913, and mail bound there was sent via Saint Johns Park in Saint John County. I still haven't found the close location of this spot ca. 1913, but it appears to have been relatively close to Saint Augustine. Anybody have a map from that time?

Yes, I wouldn’t have any problem trying to produce better pictures. Should I post then to this forum or to the token website directly?

I thank you for the verification that Omega fl existed. I found St. John’s Park in Flagler County near dead lake and mud lake just south east of Creasent Lake in 1936. Near Haw creek.

I think Flagler County was taken from St. John’s and Volusia counties in 1917
