New Old Spot- 1/2 Real and 2 LC's

A little map time this winter paid off. A buddy and I got out to a foundation that burned in the 1830's and was never rebuilt, although it has seen it's share of hunters and campers over the last 180 years. Large iron pieces left on rocks and by trees let us know that we weren't the first to hit this site, but the ground was so trashy that we knew there had to be some good stuff left. Tone ID on the SE was almost totally unreliable due to the trash, even with a 5" coil, so I was digging more according to target size than to metal content. Four hours produced a 1781 half real, an 1801 LC, an 1817 LC, and a pocket full of shotgun shells. Went back yesterday and got another pocket full of shotgun shells, but nothing else to write home about.

Pretty nice finds D. I have yet to get out. Hopefully this week. I live in the Berkshires and where I hunt, as of last week, there was still about 2' of snow in the woods. Do ya believe it? BUMMER. anyways, congrats......Hogge

thanks for the kind words all.

HCW- dutchess

Hogge- i got up to north adams a coupla weeks ago, and it was like driving from spring into the dead of winter. no snow here to 6+" there and a good 10-15 degrees cooler. ground is thawed here, but the ticks are out in force!

Nice going on the finds, and excellent photos.

I have a site that gave up an 1801 and an 1817 LC as well. I better go back and look for the Spanish Silver!!

WTG!!
