New Old Spot- 1/2 Real and 2 LC's
A little map time this winter paid off. A buddy and I got out to a foundation that burned in the 1830's and was never rebuilt, although it has seen it's share of hunters and campers over the last 180 years. Large iron pieces left on rocks and by trees let us know that we weren't the first to hit this site, but the ground was so trashy that we knew there had to be some good stuff left. Tone ID on the SE was almost totally unreliable due to the trash, even with a 5" coil, so I was digging more according to target size than to metal content. Four hours produced a 1781 half real, an 1801 LC, an 1817 LC, and a pocket full of shotgun shells. Went back yesterday and got another pocket full of shotgun shells, but nothing else to write home about.
